Cash Drawer System for use with Rapid Rental Software The cash drawer system for use with your Rapid Rental Software will integrate seamlessly with your existing or new Rapid Rental Software. It will allow you to completely replace your old cash register as it functions just like one: the till drawer will open up at the end of a transaction, allowing staff to store receipts and make change. If your system came from TVL with the cash drawer system, then all you need to do is connect the cash drawer to the Interface Card Connector via the Signal Cable and ensure that your Rapid Rental Software is set to use a cash drawer (C, C, A, 3 from the Main Menu). Cash Drawer and Interface Card On the Interface Card, there are 2 rows of 3 pins called Jumpers. These jumpers allow you to configure the settings of the Interface Card with Jumper Blocks in case there is a conflict with another device in your computer (IE a network card). The default jumper settings are displayed below, which correspond to Port Number 5 in the Rapid Rental Software. The alternative setting would correspond to Port Number 6 in the Rapid Rental Software. NOTE: THESE JUMPERS ARE CORRECT FOR VERSION PRIOR TO MARCH 27, 1995 OF THE POS 103 CASH CARD ONLY. PLEASE SEE THE SECTION BELOW "REVISED CASH DRAWER CARD SETTINGS". Default Setting of Interface Card Alternative Setting of Interface Card (no jumpers) If you had your hardware installed previously, and purchased the cash drawer system from TVL, you must insert the Interface Card into your computer before being able to connect the cash drawer to your computer. If you don't feel confident enough to open your computer yourself, have a local technician come in and do the job for you. Open Computer with Interface Cards REVISED CASH DRAWER CARD SETTINGS SDMS has revised their cash drawer card. Unfortunately, it no longer supports ports 5 or 6. The only way to use these cards (purchased after March 20th, 1995) is to have a version of Rapid Rental dated later than 3/29/95 and to use port 1 and 2. The jumpers are slightly different, and the dip switch settings are now important. Rapid Rental Cash Drawer Port = 1 (Com1, 3F8 hex) Cash drawer card: J1=Jumpered, J2=Jumpered, J3=Open, and have the Character selector on default value of D,D,D,U,U,U,U,U (D=Down U=Up) Rapid Rental Cash Drawer Port = 2 (Com2, 2F8 hex) Cash drawer card: J1=Open, J2=Jumpered, J3=Jumpered, and have the character selector on default value of D,D,D,U,U,U,U,U (D=Down U=Up) The port 1 settings have been tested with a modem on Com3, and also with a scanner on Com1. It was also tested while connected with PC Anywhere and the cash drawer fired correctly. These settings have not be thoroughly tested under varied network conditions.
