How to create a Rapid Rental SHIFTFRM.DAT



If you need to use the Rapid Rental shift system, you must have a file called SHIFTFRM.DAT. To create this file, use a DOS editor (such as EDIT) to create the file (example follows). 



Once the file has been created in your VIDEO directory, specify the number of shifts in Rapid Rental that you want to occur in a day. From the main menu, press C C 7 7 and enter the number of shifts.



When the shift system is activated, the DAY END option in the main menu (# 7) will change to CHANGE SHIFT. Each time you want a shift change, execute option # 7, and view the shift summary file (this is the file that you've created called SHIFTFRM.DAT, containing your totals for this shift). 



When you've reached the last shift of the day (as determined by the number of shifts per day), the computer will perform a normal day-end as usual after you have listed your shift summaries.



Creating a SHIFTFRM.DAT file:



From the main menu of Rapid Rental, exit out to DOS (press ESCape and then E).



Type in EDIT SHIFTFRM.DAT. You should have a screen appear with a flashing cursor. This is just like a word processor.



Type in the codes required for your shift summary (an example has been included on the following page).



To save the file, press the F2 key.



To exit, press the ESCape key.



You may now run Rapid Rental with the shift system active.
